Pathological gambling is a mental disorder, characterized by repeated episodes of gambling, occupying the person’s life in the way that social, work, material, family values and commitments are given up (The Icd-10 Classification of Mental and Behavioural Disorders: Clinical Descriptions and Diagnostic Guidelines, Medicina, 1997). This disorder causes many problems to both the person himself and his relatives, and the society.
ATTENTION – On the last Tuesday of each month, the Gaming Control Authority under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania organizes meetings of mutual support groups for the families with a member, who has gambling-related problems.
A support group is for you, if:
- There is a gambling person in your immediate environment.
- You do not know how to help him or yourself.
- You have some unanswered questions and do not know whom to ask.
- There are some feelings, and you do not know what to do with them.
- You know what to do and would like to share it with others.

Self-exclusion from gambling organization places – how to do it?
Although the current legislation does not provide the possibility for forced restriction or for restriction to visit the gambling organization places and to gamble with prior person’s consent, the Gaming Control Authority under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter referred to as Gaming Control Authority) looks for methods to minimize the negative gambling consequences, evidencing by addiction to gambling.
On the basis of agreement on self-exclusion from gambling, the Gaming Control Authority accepts the requests not to allow gambling, and its professionals consult the persons, experiencing gambling-related problems, and their relatives on the possible help methods all over Lithuania, provide information by phone, e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) or skype (Pagalba LPT).
